Bayern Munich have opened
the door for Manchester United to bid for Owen Hargreaves this
summer.
The Red Devils have been long-term admirers of the England
international, but as yet have been unable to strike a deal with
Bayern.
United had two bids for Hargreaves rejected last summer while a
January transfer window move also failed to bear fruit for the Old
Trafford titans.
However, ahead of Wednesday's UEFA Champions League clash with
Milan, Bayern president Franz Beckenbauer has stated it will take
at least £17million to their match their valuation of the
Canadian-born star.
"If it is right that there is an offer of 25-30million
(£17million-£20million) for Hargreaves, then I would seriously
consider it," he admitted on a television.
"I think the board also think this way to satisfy the needs of the
player."
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was in Munich on Wednesday to see
Bayern's game and the Scottish tactician will undoubtedly have cast
on eye on Hargreaves' performance.
