Midfielder Lamps, 28, said: I saw the guy coming and wanted to keep my eye on him because I thought if I turned my back I might get one on me. I just ducked and then the stewards got to him. The way he ran at me I think hed had a few drinks. I dont think he should have been on the pitch in the first place. A home supporter escaped the security cordon and got close enough to have a swing at Lampard. Lamps added: You understand the emotion in a match like this. There is a lot of feeling but we celebrated in front of our own fans and for the whole game we had taken a lot of stick. If you cant enjoy a victory in front of your own fans its a bad day. People give us stick for a whole game and then complain when we celebrate. Thats too much of a one-way street for me. Thats not fair. When someone gets on the pitch theres not a lot you can do. Martin Jol claimed Spurs were the better team and played down the fan trouble. The Tottenham manager said: I am not responsible for security. I can feel the fans frustration because we felt we could get something out of this match and we didnt. If you look at the game I dont think you can say the best team won.
