TOTTENHAM aim to rescue Luis Boa Morte from his
nightmare spell at West Ham with a cut-price £2million summer
swoop. Spurs boss Martin Jol made a similar bid for the Portuguese
winger during the winter transfer window. But he was blown out of
the water by Hammers boss Alan Curbishley taking Boa Morte from
Fulham for £5m, on wages of more than £50,000 a
week.
Boa Morte, 29, was not keen on Upton Park but felt he had no choice
once Fulham had accepted Curbishleys bid for their club captain.
He has struggled for form and is also said to have suffered a virus
since moving across London.
But Jol, desperate to sign a left-sided player, will lead the queue
at the likely West Ham relegation sale this summer with a renewed
bid. Jol also hopes to snap up troubled Hammers defender Anton
Ferdinand, 22, and could even make a move for Hammers skipper Nigel
Reo-Coker, 22.
