Agent: Chelsea want Baros
By Alex Dunn - Created on 6 Jan 2007
Milan Baros' agent has confirmed that Chelsea are interested in
bringing the Aston Villa striker to Stamford Bridge.
The Czech Republic international has already snubbed a move to Real
Sociedad in the January transfer window and it could be the
champions that next make a move for the out of favour
front-man.
Villa boss Martin O'Neill has used Baros sparingly in recent weeks
and has conceded he is unsure as to what the future holds for the
former Liverpool man.
With Andrei Shevchenko still a pale imitation of the player that
sparked at Milan, and Arjen Robben struggling with injury, Chelsea
are thought to be keen to pep up their attack ahead of the title
run in.
It had been reported that they were planning a surprise approach
for Baros and now his agent, Pavel Paska, has confirmed that Jose
Mourinho has made his interest known.
"I have spoken about Milan´s future with Aston Villa manager Martin
O´Neill," Paska told Pravo. "I will not contest the interest of
Chelsea, we know about it.
"There would be a meeting between both clubs as the player is still
under a valid contract.
"That is the first step both sides have to do to not break the
regulations.
"That is why I cannot say if it was a loan or a permanent
move."
