Livorno admit Premiership club chasing keeper but refuses to
confirm it is Liverpool
Livorno President Aldo Spinelli has confirmed that goalkeeper Marco
Amelia is being tracked by a Premiership outfit, thought to be
Liverpool.
Milan are also reportedly interested as their current No 1 Nelson
Dida will be out of action for at least two months after injuring
his knee during the Champions League tie with AEK Athens.
There is a chance that Amelia could leave in January, said
Spinelli as he entered the Lega Calcio offices on Friday.
In any case, he will move only if we are offered a counterpart,
otherwise we cannot let him go. The player has also received an
interesting offer from a Premiership club to join them in June, but
I will not confirm if its Liverpool. It may be an even more
important outfit. Milan? I dont think they have a goalkeeper to
offer us, stated the club official, although the Rossoneri might
buy Stefano Sorrentino from AEK Athens and then use him in a swap
deal.
The President is also adamant that he has no problem with Coach
Daniele Arrigoni, despite the latters complaints about the
constant criticism directed his way.
I dont always complain, I only try to motivate my squad because I
am sure they can do even better than what I have seen so far. We
should have three points more than we do, but I still believe we
are strong in all departments, concluded Spinelli, whose team will
visit Reggina on Sunday.
