vs
Liverpool v Manchester City
Ch 23 - 11:00pm - (Live)
Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy should be in the squad even though
he is involved in a court case in Cardiff.
They are without Xabi Alonso and Mark Gonzalez (hamstring), while
Stephen Warnock (groin) misses out and Jermaine Pennant (hamstring)
is doubtful.
Manchester City's Dietmar Hamann has recovered from a thigh injury,
though he will probably be on the bench.
Trevor Sinclair (knee) and DaMarcus Beasley (ankle) are out and Sun
Jihai is troubled by a hamstring injury.
LIVERPOOL against Manchester City is a mid table
match-up between two clubs both brilliant at home and wretched
away. They have each collected 14 more points on their own
territory than they have on opposition turf.
Already through to the knock out stages, the Merseysiders finished
top of their Champions League group with a 2-0 home victory over
PSV on Wednesday, and all but two of their 18 League points have
also been picked up at Anfield. They've won their last two and are
unbeaten in 22 home Premiership matches
Peter CROUCH is Liverpool's top scorer with nine goals.
MANCHESTER CITY travel the 38 miles to Anfield
looking to add to their measly single point on the road and
register their first away victory of this Premiership season,
breaking Liverpool's unbeaten home record in the process.
City go into this game on the back of last Saturday's 3-1 victory
over Fulham when Bernardo Corradi scored a brace in a contest that
was virtually over by half time. City have recorded only one
Premiership victory over Liverpool at Anfield from their nine
visits. Nicolas Anelka scored both goals, one from the spot, in a
1-2 triumph on 3 May 2003.
Joey BARTON and Georgios SAMARAS are City's top scorers with three
goals each.
