Bolton manager Sam Allardyce maintains he has never been paid a bung or sought an illegal payment - but fears his reputation could be permanently damaged by recent allegations.

And Trotters boss Allardyce told The People: "I don't know what damage it has done for me, but I don't think it will go on and on - I think things will be sorted out pretty quickly.

"I have done nothing wrong but things like this can stick, even if nothing is proved. It's hard to say what might happen on that score - I just have to concentrate on football and let my legal side look after that.

"I haven't been tempted to walk away but that would have looked as if I was running away."

Fulham boss Chris Coleman has backed UEFA's stance on illegal payments to managers, insisting anyone found guilty should be handed a life ban.

The English game is in turmoil following the BBC Panorama documentary last week which alleged several figures are guilty of taking 'bungs'.

UEFA are advocating a life ban for anyone found guilty of taking an illegal payment from a transfer and Coleman agrees a harsh penalty is needed.

KEVIN BOND will today be sacked as Newcastle No.2 in the fall out from Panorama's bung allegations.

Bond has spoken to United chairman Freddy Shepherd and will learn his fate officially today after lawyers sort out of the small print. His short spell as assistant to Glenn Roeder is set to end, despite his pleas of innocence.

The former Portsmouth assistant boss was taped by the programme talking to a bogus agent. He will be quizzed by the FA about his comments.

Roeder has worked without a right-hand man for the past three games since Bond went on gardening leave and will now have to find a successor.

Wah... the first guy to be sack from the bung allegations. Will there be more to come i wonder...

Sam Allardyce is planning to sue the BBC after the allegations of corruption made against him on Panorama.

Panorama secretly filmed agents claiming they had paid the Bolton boss bungs, though he has said he has never taken, asked for or received a bung.

Allardyce said: "I have had lengthy discussions with my lawyers and I am planning to sue the BBC over the false and highly damaging allegations."

He added: "My lawyers have advised me that I have a very strong case in relation to the programme.

My good name has been tarnished by deceit and innuendo

Newcastle have terminated the contract of assistant manager Kevin Bond.
Bond was placed on gardening leave after a BBC Panorama programme secretly recorded him saying he would consider receiving payments from an agent.

Bond, then at Portsmouth, says he has never been interested in receiving bungs and will fight to clear his name.

He said in a statement: "I am extremely disappointed Newcastle have terminated my contract without any proper investigation into the allegations."

BOLTON have threatened Sky with a blackout after manager Sam Allardyce was asked about bungs on air.

Chairman Phil Gartside warned Sky TV bosses they would have their access withdrawn if there was a repeat of Mondays rift after the 1-0 win at Portsmouth.

Presenter Jeff Stelling asked Allardyce if he had Ever been offered a bung to which he replied angrily: Youre out of order.

Sky were only allowed to speak with Big Sam providing the subject of bungs and Panorama was not raised.

But it is understood Stelling was told to ask the question by his superiors even though they had been pre-warned about it.

Former Newcastle assistant coach Kevin Bond has criticised the club for not supporting him in the wake of bung allegations which he claims led to him being sacked at St James' Park.

Bond is set to decide whether to take legal action on two fronts after accusing Newcastle of sacking him without fully investigating the bung allegations in last week's Panorama expose.

It is understood Bond, who has received support from his friends in football, will pursue legal action against Newcastle as well as the BBC following his sacking as Glenn Roeder's number two at St James' Park.

Bond had his contract terminated yesterday as the fall-out from last week's Panorama probe into corruption in football continued to have repercussions.

LORD STEVENS will deliver his initial report into footballs bung culture on Monday.

The investigation, which involves 20 accountants and financial experts, has been running since January.

It was commissioned by the Premiership after former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson was duped into making allegations about bungs in a newspaper sting.

Around 50 of 362 transfers probed have raised suspicions.

Lord Stevens is set to make a host of recommendations to the Premier League on Monday having spent six months on an inquiry into corruption in football.

His Quest team's investigation looked into more than 350 transfers over the last six months.

The Stevens inquiry was set up after a number of allegations of corruption were made earlier in 2006.

Lord Stevens is set to suggest changes to the transfer system but will not name and shame clubs involved in the 10% of deals that need further investigation.
