Ninja, my heart is so painful. The Asian Cup jinx continues for us.
Should have beaten Saudi in the first game 1-0 but ....you know.
Dominated the match earlier against the Bahrainis but let in a goal minutes before full time to lose.
We have to beat Indonesia this Wednesday to stand a chance to advance. I admit, our players are to be blamed also.
How more can I say. The only hope is to beat Indonesia by as many goals as they can.

Jinx....continues.

Korea disposition turns out to be just as bad as the soccer pitch in Indonesia I am truly sorry for you now they really have to give everything they have against the co-host.Indonesia is playing like Cameroon in the 1992 WFC when they surprised the World beating Argentina 1-0 in the opening game.Their strategy is based on one touch football ,three men cover to a player + lots of running around .This strategy was very effective against the Saudis but eventually with 15 minutes left the legs just couldnt take it,when they play Korea I expect them to run out of wind much earlier. The bad condition of the pitch and the tendency for referees to favor the host would be the extra "Player" and so Korea must try to shoot from as far as 30/35m and capitalise on set pieces and corners. No offense but I will be rooting for Indonesia to deny Korea for a few personal reasons.Nevertheless good luck and may the luckier team qualify for the next round.

It was more like a boxing match.China came into the ring like an oversized yellow Tyson trying to knock out Iran (Holyfield) but ended up almost getting knocked out in the process.Good news is China is almost to the next round and the bad news?? .....we didnt get to see anyone biting off ears Mr. Green

Japan is on its way to clear the final hurdle today.Playing Vietnam will not be easy in front of a patriotic crowd and we have to show the Viets respect, something we already learned from playing SIngapore at Jalan Besar .What is worrying me is that Osim still doesnt have a regular 11 as he experiments with the young J-leaguers in every International game, putting Maki upfront together with Takahara is just a waste of manpower as he is never on target in big matches.Other names like Nakamura (the other one)and Hanyu just take up spaces in the soccer field. The defense line is the only department that is reliable up till now.Today I am hoping for a header from Nakazawa and hopefully a long range goal from any of the midfielders.I feel Nakamura (the one from Celtic) and Takahara will be bottled up good today.Forget about Maki scoring because he plays like a lost giraffe when be wears blue.Final result 1 or 2 goals at the very most for Japan but a draw is all too possible.

I'm sorry for Korea..
Well hopefully, they can put 2-3 past Indonesia, and wait for results to go their way...

Ninja, Ordinaryguy32, SumOne and friends, I'm in Singapore again. I was in Bangkok for a few days doing some personal stuff. I had access to the internet at my home in Bangkok but because I was too busy, so....can't contribute my reports as well as my comments as usual.
Next trip will be back in Seoul to spend my Autumn Festival for a week in September.

Ok, Back to business. Well, I know we (korea) lost unfortunately. We'll see how we can deal with the Indonesians. You might not know, the host might have lost steam...

Anyway, thanks Ninja for being the host of this forum for the few days here. I know you don't like Korea for some personal reasons. Me too. I have something concerning Japan. You know, Korea-Japan relationship as well as China-Japan relationship etc... need not elaborate more. But I respect you as a good friend here already. Although you're supporting Japan, I have nothing against you. You have your rights and freedom to support the team you like. Smile

Good Luck

Another painful casualty THAILAND!!! again as we discussed before size does matter.Jaeyoon please dont get me wrong as I have nothing against South Korean(North Korean maybe) In fact Ive lived/worked in Korea for 6 months before its just that for this Asian CupI will supprt my home team and any that play with their heart and soul.Looks to me that Australia is starting to turn up heat and I hope South Korea does the same tomorrow but a Country like Indonesia needs glory too as it is plaque with all sorts of problems in recent times and I know the players are playing for the people. It has been decided that Japan will play the Aussies and we look forward to avenging our defeat under them during the World Cup.Iran looks really good…..finalist maybe???

Short Ninja SG

Upcoming games you dont want and my predictions.

Indonesia Vs Korea.Korea to win by more than 3 goals that is if we are talking about the same Korea who were semi finalist in 2002.Iran is going to take it easy on Malaysia and so expect something like 2 or 3 goals.Saudi and Bahrain is 50/50 case and I woundnt mind putting my money on Bahraiin if offered 1 ball or 1/2 and 1 ball.Uzbekistan and China will be the game to watch. They are about even but I will be rooting for China because Its easier for us to play the Chinese than the Uzbeks. We were very lucky playing all these teams 4 years ago but with the present line up we are going to need even more luck this time.

Group A news

Socceroos come good to advance
Jul 16, 2007
PA Sport

BANGKOK Mark Viduka scored twice in the final 10 minutes to seal a 4-0 win for Australia over Thailand and earn the Socceroos a place in the quarter-finals of the AFC Asian Cup.

The result flattered Graham Arnolds team after Thailand dominated the second half and had the chances to pull level after Michael Beauchamp had given the Australians the lead with a 21st minute header.

But it was Australias aerial prowess that won them the game with Viduka holding off the Thai defence to score the goal that effectively won the game 10 minutes from time before sealing the result with a header three minutes later.

Harry Kewell then completed the win when he slotted past Kosin Hathairatanakul in injury time.

Graham Arnold made four changes from the team that lost 3-1 to Iraq, with Kewell axed along with Patrick Kisnorbo and Brett Holman while Lucas Neill missed the game due to suspension.

As a result, Beauchamp and John Aloisi started, as did Sydney FC duo Mark Milligan and David Carney, and the Australians looked the better for the changes.

With the rain falling incessantly throughout the first 45 minutes, the Socceroos started the game at a higher tempo than they have in their previous two games and they dominated the early stages of the game.

It took the Australians 21 minutes to put themselves on the scoreboard when Luke Wilkshire sent his free kick into the Thai penalty area and Beauchamp was left unmarked to head past Kosin.

Suchao Nutnum could have responded just two minutes later for the Thais only for his long-range shot to fly straight at Mark Schwarzer while moments later Suree Sukha sent in a searing low cross that Kiatisuk Senamuang only just failed to direct into the Australian goal.

Needing a draw to progress to the knockout phase, the Thais pushed for the equaliser and dominated the second period, although Wilkshire went close to adding a second just seconds after the restart.

Suree continued to cause problems down the right for Thailand while Tawan Sripan and Kiatisuk worked tirelessly in attack, and it was the former Hudderfield Town man who set up substitute Pipat Thonkanya with a back-heel into the area, only for Pipat to shoot straight at Schwarzer.

Kewell came off the bench and headed over the bar in the 68th minute before another long range effort from Suchao blistered the paint of Schwarzers left post. Datsakorn Thonglao tried his luck from distance soon after, only for the Middlesbrough goalkeeper to hold onto the shot.

With 10 minutes remaining and with the Thais pushing hard for the equaliser, Viduka killed off the game.

His first came when Tim Cahill sent in his cross from the left and Viduka controlled the ball on his chest before holding off the Thai defence and firing past Kosin.

Three minutes later Cahill and Viduka linked up again, with the Everton man crossing from the left this time to allow the powerfully built striker to head home.

And Kewell completed the scoring right at the end when he ran in unopposed on Kosin before sliding the ball to the right of the keeper.
