Rio Ferdinand believes he has found his ideal partner in the
heart of the Manchester United defence in Nemanja Vidic.
The duo have been Sir Alex Ferguson's preferred pair this season as
The Red Devils edge towards regaining the Premiership title from
Chelsea.
Much of United's success can be put down to their superb defensive
showings, with just 18 goals conceded in 26 league games this
term.
And Ferdinand feels he and Vidic have forged the ideal partnership
in the centre of defence at Old Trafford.
"We've never really had a settled back line since I've been here,"
Ferdinand is quoted in the Daily Star.
"I have played with numerous people and, now, it is the most
settled it has been and we're getting our reward for that.
"We've got a good understanding of each other's games.
"I've gained a lot of experience over the years and Nemanja is
willing to learn as well. He's doing that at a great rate at the
moment.
"We've got the bit between our teeth to go on and keep getting the
right results."
Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reckons this season is some of the
older United players' last chance of UEFA Champions League
glory.
United face Lille in the second round and Solskjaer is praying they
can go all the way.
"There a few of us players for whom this could be the last chance,"
Solskjaer told Inside United. "You have to grasp your
opportunities, they might not come again.
"We have the squad to do well. We've strength in depth and a wealth
of international players whose skill and experience we can draw
upon."
