Lee McCulloch could submit a transfer request in order to
engineer a move to Rangers, according to his agent.
The versatile Wigan stalwart, who can operate both in midfield and
as a striker, was the subject of a £750,000 offer which his manger
Paul Jewell labelled 'derisory and insulting'.
New Ibrox chief Walter Smith is eager to build a Scottish spine to
his side and sees McCulloch, a full international, as an ideal
candidate to add to his ranks.
However, with Wigan having paid just £50,000 less than what Rangers
are offering, in signing McCulloch when they were in the then
equivalent of League One, it seems unlikely they will do business
unless this bid is increased considerably.
However, McCulloch's agent John Viola believes that such an
opportunity may not present itself again, with a transfer request
seemingly the next course of action.
"It's a cat and mouse game but the next step for Lee could be to
ask for a transfer," Viola told the Daily Record.
"He doesn't know if this chance to join Rangers will come his way
again and he doesn't want the opportunity to pass him by."
