Middlesbrough are not contemplating selling Stewart Downing in
the January transfer window.
The England international winger is rumoured to be a target for
Tottenham boss Martin Jol, but Boro are not considering selling the
22-year-old.
"We've had no contact from Tottenham, nor do we expect any," Boro
chief executive Keith Lamb told The Sun.
Downing has been one of Boro's better players so far this term and
it would appear that he figures prominently in manager Gareth
Southgate's thoughts.
"Stewart has a big part to play in our future plans," declared
Lamb.
Spurs are on the fringe of the European places and Jol would appear
keen to add to his options.
Deportivo La Coruna defender Fabricio Coloccini is rumoured to be a
target for the Dutchman, with reports suggesting the player's agent
has held talks with the Galician club over a possible move.
