Singapore Airlines is considering an all-business class offering
for its non-stop flights between Singapore and both Los Angeles and
New York Newark.
SIA's existing non-stop flights on the two routes are operated with
Airbus A340-500s in two classes, business and executive economy.
The five 181-seat A340-500s are the only aircraft in SIA's fleet
with the executive economy product.
The carrier has been assessing the feasibility of switching to an
all-business class configuration for the aircraft, as the
ultra-long-haul flights are primarily targeted at business
travellers.
But it stresses that a switch to entirely business class "is
something we are only considering at this point [and] have not made
a decision to go down this path".
