Hi everyone,

I thought of a thread where it's like a trivia or mini wiki for everyone to contribute some " rare " or inside facts about aviation. Like what does " AVI" . " PER", ICAO, IATA, EASA, JAR, RAD, MAG, MSG or were the WW II fighter planes really made of canvas , does fliight decks really have ash trays ..etc..

Everyone is welcome to contribute , but please keep it factual, tasteful and awe-inspiring. haha..so we can all learn from one another & perhaps dispel certain "myths" about aviation.

jus to share 2 cents..I noe u meant Aviation when u wrote AVI but in aviation terms, AVI means sumthing else..
Hey.Idea .why not start a quiz n see the answers !! before I post the right answer?..

Hahaha..no guys..ok..here goes..

AVI is the acronym for Animals & LiveStock set by IATA. Dogs, cats, horses, Fishes( AVI.F),birds are all labelled AVI n has to conform to a AVA clearance. Also AVI need some TLC from handlers n crew and are usually loaded in the bulkhold of aircraft where there is ventilation & thermostat control to keep them alive.

so there you are!

If this trivia is a welcome idea, maybe we shud have a " hey...I didnt know that !" corner. What says the other MODs n forumers?

Complied facts of A380

1. A380 was known as A3XX at its earlier development, also was nicknamed Megaliner
2. A380 project budget is estimated to cost more than 12billion, higher than what was intitally budgeted.
3. Airbus operates 16 manufacturing sites across Europe, most of which produce parts for the new A380 airliner.
4. A380 is built in France, Germany, Spain and UK; the final assembly and testing is done in Toulouse, France.
5. The first A380 prototype is registered as F-WWOW, manufacturer's serial number is 001 (MSN001).
6. Airports require modifications to be compatible when A380 operates.
7. FedEx Express becomes the first customer for the A380 freighter version (ironically the first to cancel its order.)

So its a myth that has to be dispelled n SIA , THAI & CX 's CEOs n few enviromentalists are trying to do at a recent symposium to honor Chew as Airline MAN of the year. seems like they are more informed on environmental issues as compared to Branson who "kinda agreed" with a mis-informed journalist that aircraft contribute most of the greenhouse effect n he is contributing a reward of USD28M for environmental cleanup & education . Well intention but......
