sintuahuat SG http://saveourroots.googlepages.com/ This website was created with the aim of generating greater awareness of JLS (Jin Long Si Temple) and the biggest and oldest Bodhi tree in Singapore, and the bleak future they would face if nothing is done to save them. Jin Long Si Temple houses something very special that represents living Buddhist heritage. It is none other then the biggest and oldest Bodhi Tree in Singapore. However, on 20th January 2003, URA issued a compulsory land acquisition order to acquire the plot of land belonging to JLS as part of URA's redevelopment plan for Circle Line Stage 3 construction. If nothing is done, both JLS and the Bodhi tree will have to make way for redevelopment in 2007.

pinkish purple papayas SG The gahment once fined Far East Construction a few hundred grands for cutting down some trees without permission in some area. (forget where liao, and it was a couple of years ago) so this time, when no profit is involve, the gahment will cut it down nevertheless?
nightzip SG why dun the gahment dig out the tree and replant it somewhere? they dun have initiative issit? need people to prompt them what to do? The temple can also be relocated. All follows the ways of buddhism, nothing is ever-lasting....but there are ways to preserve them.
sintuahuat SG From understanding once the old tree is uproot, it's going to hurt the roots and likely will not survive.
