Some would argue that it's not possible to corrupt religion. This is if you hold a relativistic 'tolerant' view and feel that all viewpoints are equally valid. You can't say religion is being parodied or corrupted because you have to accept the person's viewpoint is just as valid as yours. Which brings up the problem of "if everyone is his own pope, what good is religion?" There can be no common viewpoint in a practical sense.

The purpose of the scientific method is to make observations that everyone can agree on.

The problem with religion is that there is no evidence that everyone can agree on so you need an authority figure to tell you how to interpret things or to resolve conflicts. Which then brings you to the other problem. Who is the correct authority figure?

Not according to them, they actually do believe that this is how Christianity should be practiced. They'll probably say that you are the diluted Christian. That Christianity is being weakened by spineless moderates. Like Phaze asks, who can say which one of you is right?

Of course, your authority will say that you're right. And theirs will say the same for them. So which authority has the correct access to God?

I wasn't referring to paddles that they would use. For Christian Domestic Discipline, the bare hand is the preferred spanking tool. This also allows the man to say "it hurts me more than it hurts you.

I was referring to a paddle that you would use to spank your own head until it stops hurting. In my opinion, a soft plastic paddle for a low low price of $4.99 at a Watsons near you, is the preferred solution.
