ABOU DIABY is backing Arsenal for an amazing league and
European double this season. Arsene Wengers side, chasing a first
title since 2004, are just a point behind leaders Manchester United
in the Premier League going into todays trip to
Everton.
In the Champions League they face a titanic last-16 clash with AC
Milan. But French international Diaby insisted: I think we can win
the Premier League and Champions League. We reached the Champions
League final two years ago and lost. But this year, if we stay
focused and concentrate, I feel we can win it.
I rate Barcelona and Chelsea as being our main rivals. Arsenal
are a big club and we want to be first in every competition. The
former Auxerre midfielder claims that the £16million summer
departure of Thierry Henry to Barcelona has given the Gunners a new
lease of life.
Top player
He added: Of course, it is better to have a player like Thierry
Henry in your team. He can make the difference at any time during a
game. But he has left and the players have had to take on more
responsibility. The players have more experience now, compared to
last season, and we have learned from our mistakes.
Diaby is also full of praise for Spanish wonderkid Cesc Fabregas.
He declared: Cesc is showing this season he can become a top, top
player. I am sure he can win the Player of the Year award.
Diaby has dismissed claims he will be on the move in the summer. He
insisted: I want to stay at Arsenal. I feel good here.
