Boro were surprisingly dominant during the game considering their
lowly league position leaving Wenger humbled, We cant complain
about the result he told BBC Sport.
I felt we had a slow start and they took advantage of it, we were
not very sharp, but I believe that we gave absolutely
everything.
You could see that it was our fourth game away from home and they
were much more physical and we paid the price for it today.
To be fair Middlesbrough were sharper and played well.
They lacked confidence at the start of the game but once they went
1-0 up, they looked very good on the counter attack and they took
advantage of that.
They were sharper, we were second best.
Arsenal went one behind in the fourth minute after Kolo Toure
brought down former Gunner Jeremie Aliadiere for a penalty, which
was duly dispatched by Stewart Downing, but Wenger has no qualms
with the decision.
I didnt really see it, but I have no real argument, the referee
was in a better position than I was.
The result means Manchester United have cut Arsenals lead at the
top to just one point, but Wenger believes Arsenal are still in a
strong position.
We know that it will be a long season and that it will be very
tight. We have now played eight away games and eight home games, so
overall at the start of the season we would have signed-up to be a
point ahead at that stage of the season, with Manchester United
having played nine at home and seven away.
I still believe that it will be a very big fight until the
end.
