EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR has joked
he will quit football unless Arsenal win the
title.
The Togo striker is so convinced his side will go all the way this
season, he has even bet his shirt on Arsene Wengers Young Guns
lifting the Premier League crown.
Adebayor, 23, said: If we dont win it, I will take my shirt off
and call Arsene Wenger.
Ill say Boss, I want to stop playing football because I have a
lot of ambition and part of my ambition is to win the title.
As a player if you dont have an ambition, I dont know why you
are playing or what you stand for.
I have a lot of dreams and ambitions with Arsenal and I know they
will come true.
Proving people
wrong
Unbeaten Arsenal are three points clear of champs Manchester United
with a game in hand a position not many thought possible after
Thierry Henrys departure to Barcelona in the summer.
Without the French legend, most fans tipped them to struggle to
even finish in the top four.
Yet ahead of todays trip to Aston Villa, hotshot Adebayor says the
Gunners have enjoyed proving people wrong.
And he admits the whole dressing room is already talking about
repeating the 2004 Invincibles campaign when Arsenal went a whole
league season unbeaten.
He said: Just a few months ago, at the beginning of the season,
people said we are not even going to finish fourth in the league
because Thierry Henry left.
Now you see the same people on the TV say we are the favourites
for the title and I just laugh.
We have managed to convince them that what they thought at the
beginning of the season was wrong. I am happy that people think we
can win it but thinking is different from doing it and I know we
can do it.
It will be very difficult because there are other teams like
Chelsea, Man United and Liverpool who have all got good chances of
winning the title.
So we have to fight as we have done from the start of the season
and then if we concentrate and listen to our great manager we are
sure we can do it.
All credit must go to the boss Arsene Wenger. I must say that even
the players thought the season would be difficult for us because
Thierry Henry was the key player who motivated us and gave us
encouragement.
Wenger advised us to just enjoy ourselves on the pitch and do a
good job to prove to people that we can stand on our own without
Henry.
This idea and mentality is what has carried us through this season
so far.
We share the responsibility of Henrys absence on each and every
players head as we advise each other and encourage each
other.
We miss Henry and regardless of what happened he is a big player
and a big brother to us.
