Arsenal could reportedly
be the subject of a takeover bid from the man who attempted to
orchestrate a purchase of Liverpool earlier in the
year.
Mohammed Al Hashimi helped convince Sheik Muhammed Al Maktoum to
launch a £450million bid for the Anfield club, before Liverpool
accepted a rival approach from new owners Tom Hicks and George
Gillett.
Now Al Hashimi admits Arsenal could be an attractive proposition as
he looks to become a major player in the Premier League.
"I know the owners are very reluctant to sell but I see Arsenal as
a very profitable club," Al Hashimi told The Sun.
"Liverpool was an opportunity which does not come along every day
but we have to move on."
Any bid will require the financial backing of the Dubai government,
via their investment arm Dubai International Capital.
Al Hashimi could also face competition from another American
investor, Stan Kroenke, who has already taken a 12.19 per cent
stake in The Gunners.
