HENRY QUIT FEAR

GILBERTO SILVA last night became the first Arsenal player to admit he fears Thierry Henry could leave this summer.

Gunners captain Henry has been critical of the club for not signing more established and experienced big names as they try to keep up with Manchester United and Chelsea.

It has put Henry's future in doubt again and World Cup winner Gilberto, who will line up for Brazil in tonight's Wembley friendly, said: "We want him to stay because we know how important he is to the team.

"Everyone expects him to stay but for the last few years there has been speculation about him. But we are confident he will stay.

"We need to be patient. It is fingers crossed but I have talked to him and I think he will stay."

Gilberto is relishing tonight's friendly, and facing David Beckham - even if he was surprised he was dropped in the first place. He added: "I was not surprised when he was recalled, but I was surprised when he was left out because he is a great player.

"It's good for the England team to have him back because from what I have seen he appears to be the leader of the team.

"Some people have criticised England players for not playing their best but the match against us is a chance for them to prove them wrong.

"England have some players whose style I really like, especially Steven Gerrard. Others need time to adjust." Brazil boss Dunga, with six wins and a draw from his first eight games in charge, has picked an allstar team, with the line-up including Barcelona star Ronaldinho.

Ronaldinho said: "Wembley is a historical temple of football and to be the first national team that wins there will be very emotive.

"For me if we win in London it will be a little revenge because this season with Barca we lost to Chelsea and Liverpool, and the Champions League was a dream for me. To win with Brazil will give me some pleasure."

i hope the talk with gilberto will inspire henry to stay with the gunners till the end of time!

yea. Henry is a kind of player where he is good in playmaking, finishing, creating spaces and passing. So even he turn old, when he lose the X factor in speed, he still can be a playmaker. Hes a invaluable asset to Arsenal, Wenger make de right decision pls

Thuram makes Henry call

Former international team-mate Lilian Thuram has urged Thierry Henry to join him at Barcelona amid continued speculation that the Arsenal captain could finally be lured to Spain this summer.

Henry was courted by the Catalan giants last summer before he opted to remain at the Emirates Stadium and sign a new long-term contract.

However, after revealing his frustration at an injury-plagued and ultimately trophyless season in north London, the France international has once again been linked with a move to the Camp Nou.

And Thuram, who was part of the 1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championship winning France teams with Henry, has urged his former colleague to finally join Barcelona this close season.

He told El Mundo: "If Thierry Henry wanted to change clubs tomorrow it would be great if he came to Barca.

"It would be very good for the club because he is a great player and for him also because the way Barca play would be ideal for him."

Reports in Spain also suggest Barcelona's sporting director Txiki Begiristain has made the acquisition of the 29-year-old striker his number one priority this summer.

Barca leave door open for Henry

Barcelona say they still want to sign Thierry Henry - but he must first show he is willing to leave Arsenal.

Henry, 29, has long been linked with the Nou Camp club and Barca look set to make another approach for the striker.

Sporting director Txiki Beguiristain told the Sunday Express: "If he has the desire to play here, then we can see if it's going to happen or not."

Last week, Henry played down reports he was set to quit the Gunners after being linked with Barca and Inter Milan.

He said: "Since I started playing football there has been speculation about me going to a lot of clubs and that will never, ever stop.

"But as I said, for now I'm an Arsenal player, so there is nothing to add to it."

Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has previously said he would welcome Henry's arrival at the club and now Lilian Thuram has echoed those thoughts.

"It would be great if Thierry came to Barcelona," Henry's former French international team-mate Thuram told the News of the World.

"It would very good for the club because he's a great player - and for him it would be positive too because this club is ideal for him."

Henry signed a new four-year contract last summer but has since been plagued by injuries and has grown frustrated at Arsenal's inability to mount a title challenge.

"It was pretty difficult to see once again that we finished so far away from the top teams," added Henry, whose side finished fourth in the Premiership in the 2006-2007 campaign.

"It's always the same top four and I'm actually getting annoyed that we're finishing at the end of the top four now."
