Eboue as right midfield?

ben1xy SG

Just to throw up a suggestion.

Eboue's defensive prowess has always been suspect. his positioning and tendency to prefer attacking. Can we instead use him as a winger given his pace? he also puts in good crosses. And since we have hoyte, we can use his as RB instead?

feasible? or am i just BS-ing?

Trump_Card SG

I rmb AW making a tactical switch like this ….

ben1xy SG

but can we make it permanent? instead of getting exposed on the flanks regularly. Arsenal has always been weak in the air defensive. maybe if we cut out crosses from the flanks?

Trump_Card SG

They've been fine ...sometimes even rosicky and hleb would tracked back and do some defensive duties...

ben1xy SG

i guess so. i guess i like to see eboue trumping forward. but i am still unconvinced abt hleb though. i do hope he proves me wrong

Trump_Card SG

The crosses often come from clichy and eboue (wing-backs) rather than hleb and rosicky if u realise ... I wonder if this is AW's idea of playing short , low passes...

ben1xy SG

it's weird really, in the sense that our wingers dun actually cross much but instead prefer cutting inside. Which makes our play really predictable. Maybe we'll see who AW gets when the transfer window opens. i'm kinda looking forward to it actually

BrUtUs SG

u kidding? eboue cannot la... he better stay as right back... he is jz like gary neville to manu with the crosses and runs... hoyte will be needed when eboue injured or go for african nations cup...

turbo_drift SG

I believe that Eboue will move up to the right midfield whenever there's possible.. He's good in the flanks, maybe he should move up to right midfield.. Wink

Cheers..

Eboue was a Right-Midfielder before he was converted(Wenger-Style) to a Right-Back.

*Note: Wenger-Style = Converting and playing you at a totally unfamiliar position and expects you to get used to it. Players who includes Henry, Toure, Diaby, Flamini, etc have all been converted Wenger-Style. Mr. Green

Cheers.

ben1xy SG

he was a right mid field? oh, i didnt know that. he plays RB for ivory coast too right?

ben1xy SG

i keep thinking about liverpool's riise!

turbo_drift SG

For??

CKeer SG

Yes. If my memory is right, he was playing Right-Midfield for Bevereen and for the early part of his Arsenal career. He was converted to Right-Back.

Also, Toure was an attacking midfielder before he was converted to central defender by Wenger. Didn't Ivory Coast's coach plays him at central defence too? Mr. Green

Cheers.

ben1xy SG

i like riise at left midfield more. so i thought eboue could do the same Mr. Green

ben1xy SG

i actually remember toure's debut game. In his first game, he mad a huge impact. But in the subsequent ones, he just dropped off. all in all, i am glad he plays CB now

the Bear SG

i still remember a few crosses he blasted in right onto the head of Henry...

they resulted in goals which were unstoppable..

ben1xy SG

even the great one couldn't miss with his head from those eh?

felirox SG

If eboue were to play at the right, then where will hleb play? Last season, during CL hleb and eboue had a good partnership. so i think eboue better stick being a right back.

ben1xy SG

maybe it's because i am still unconvinced about hleb. i like rosicky though
