Arsene Wenger could not contain his
disappointment at Arsenal crashing out of the FA Cup to Blackburn
thanks to Benni McCarthy's late strike.
The pair were evenly matched at Ewood Park with the visitors having
the better of the opportunities, although they were wasteful in
front of goal.
Rovers made them pay with substitute McCarthy lashing home late on,
a goal Wenger believes was harsh on his side.
"We were never under pressure and we had the chances to score goals
and we didn't do it," he told Sky Sports.
"Then of course we made a fatal mistake and McCarthy scored a great
goal.
"Overall it's difficult to take, because I don't believe over the
two games, if you looked at what Blackburn created, it's difficult
to go out.
"Football is a job where you need to be ruthless. I believe we were
a bit unlucky with some decisions over the two games.
"I felt Freddie Ljungberg was in front (of Emerton). I'd need to
see it again on the tape, from out front it looked a clear penalty.
He's adamant.
"We can not do anything about that. We could have scored despite
that. When you don't score and they score with four minutes to go
it's difficult."
