Singapore should not build the casino

popmynutsy SG

casino main point is gambling. gambling needs $$. gambling is addictive. i have seen many results of hardcore gambling. not a good sight. gambling can cause the richest man to be a pauper withing days. watched the gambling show made in sg. a young guy around 20 years old, have enough $$ to retire at that age, but due to gambling, he lost it all. they say gambling out of 10 times win 1 time only. not true. as u will win lesser than that. when u gamble, even if u have no $$, u will find money to gamble. and they always have the mentality that they can win, which will cause them to lose more. so i say, if casino is build in sg, sg will see the increase of rich men turn poor.

Pitot SG

sorry to tell you. you will see the casinos in person in a few years time. Mr. Green

popmynutsy SG

i say the 1st month sure will see the 'results' ready.

sand king SG

I would like to see an F1 track on Sentosa!

popmynutsy SG

that is another thing. build the 'fun' things like hotel, amusement park is ok. but the casino is the problem.

soulwinner SG

Join to govt and stop the casions.. Mr. Green

798 SG

but u have to admit the fact dat every casinos make money.

but i hate the excuse from government dat building casino is for the benefit for singapore, so dat singapore can earn a revenue n have many future reserves. but the real fact is building IR is to keep the government's pocket fat! Evil or Very Mad

popmynutsy SG

sg gahmen earn the $$, but the gamblers will pay for it.

798 SG

dat is the root of greeds for all mankinds.

singapore's tourism has lost its attention and shown declining in some statistics.

Right now by building amusement park may not attract many tourists to come. So a IR will attract more pple, the amusement part will only act as dessert while the main course is still casino. building casino will also gain attraction from foreign investment such as genting organisation.

Our governments are sly enough to see this opportunity to earn big revenue. Whether or not it is against ethic is another story.

<Precious> SG

A casino may not necessarily be a soial ill. Even if there's no casino in Sg, Singaporeans can and will still go to countries with casinos to gamble. Might as well we build them and earn revenue from Singaporeans and tourists alike.

Same principle applies to Geylang wad. Having the red light district diesn't neceesarily mean that all men will become sex-crazed ma........... Laughing

Singaporeans are already complaining that Sg is so boring. Yet when the govt decides to proceed building the IRs and bring F1 to Singapore, people have so much reservations! Evil or Very Mad

popmynutsy SG

but building a casino here will allow more people to gamble.

798 SG

indeed. but the governments have taken these measurements like:

- Study how famous financial centres like London, Sydney, and Geneva remain safe and well-managed even with establishment of casinos.

- Home Affairs Ministry to pay special attention to anticipated problems that come with casinos

- Ensure proper education for the population to inculcate correct values and mindsets (no easy way to get rich, quick).

- Deterrence System:
Implement significantly high admission fees for locals. ($100 for a day (more than the ferry trip to Batam), $2000 for a year)

Ah Cek SG

now then post ar? too late liao la. a committee also been set up to curb gambling problem liao.

798 SG

other measures will be:

- Exclusion system that disallow entry to people with bad financial records (Eg financial distress, or receiving social assistance, voluntary exclusion by friends/family members).

- Ban casino from extending credit limits to locals.

- National framework to address problem gambling.
National Council on Gambling, Institute of Mental Health Community Addictions Management Programme (CAMP), Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society / Care Corner Counselling Centre, Credit Counselling Singapore, etc

popmynutsy SG

even if they ban poor people from going in. the rich people also will kena. sure gamble lost many $$ 1.

798 SG

their family members can ask the authority to ban if their husband/father is an addicter.

actually i feel it's kinda say say only. which casino will refusal money from coming in? Laughing

popmynutsy SG

when they see the results of the casino, i bet the gahmen sure feel damn sad.

T.Ryousuke SG

The most jialat one will be the middle income, aunties/ uncle just draw their CPF, and some day dreamer. Once u start there will be no end.

798 SG

Your point is noted.

i remembered they stated that under 21 are not allowed to watch restricted movie. But there are alot of pple sneaked in without their ic being checked.

how r the measures effective if everyone r stop by ticket attentants to have their records check? tis is indeed questionable.

It's not about 'should' or 'should not'... You think they care about what ya say....?

Yesterday in the news, I heard one of the ministers(?) say.. "Don't care about who's earning more $ and who's earning less $ now... We should be more FOCUSED on building Singapore's future... Think about who's leading you now....." (or something like that) I ALMOST LAUGHED MY HEAD OFF....

SAME OLD THING as what they said during the ELECTION... We wanna be more FOCUSED with helping people find their jobs... Which in the end, they just told people it's their own job to upgrade themselves and find job... How convenient?
