She and husband 'became slaves'

A 61-year-old woman in Kuala Terengganu claims she and her husband
were enslaved by their child.
She made a police report on Monday, alleging that her child had
been beating her for more than a year, reported Harian Metro.
The report did not mention her grown-up child's age or
gender.
The woman has not returned home since she made the police report as
she is afraid she will be punished for going to the police.
She is now staying with a friend.
She said the abuse started after her offspring was involved in an
accident and became bad-tempered.
She claimed that she and her husband, also 61, were forced to
follow all instructions.
If she does not comply, she is beaten, although she said her child
has not hit her husband before.
She claimed she has been threatened with a parang and a knife
before.
She said: 'Every night, I am told to sleep outside the house to
keep an eye on the car. If I don't follow the instructions, I'll be
beaten.
FORCED TO STRIP
'Once, I spilt some water while pouring it into a glass and I was
made to strip naked and beaten and slapped until my face was
swollen.
'I've been bashed up until I've been badly bruised especially
atnight.'
She said she couldn't bear to make a police report earlier as she
only has one child.
She said she has suggested before that her child get professional
help, but the request was rejected.
Superintendent Abdul Halim Mohd Ishak confirmed the police report
and said he went to the family home to arrest the suspect and take
him or her to a mental institution.
But the suspect wasn't home at the time, said the report.
