Light cigarettes equally as bad as
regular ones
If you're thinking of smoking 'light' cigarettes because they
are less harmful to you, think again.
Latest research shows that smoking them is as harmful as smoking
a regular one, says the Health Promotion Board.
Light cigarettes are usually sold in a softer, fairer exterior
packaging, and long touted as a good alternative to regular
cigarettes.
Scientific evidence proves otherwise.
These 'light' cigarettes send as much nicotine to the brain as
the regular cigarettes.
So, smokers can be as easily addicted to them as conventional
ones.
It's also proven that it doesn't take a very long time for
nicotine to set in.
Another misconception is that smoking a 'light' cigarette may
help the smoker quit the habit.
The Health Promotion Board advises smokers thinking of quitting
the habit to call Quitline or log on to www.hpb.gov.sg/quit4lilfe
for more information. --938Live
