h2 a'levels

Qex SG

i got a friend who is intending to take private a'levels next yr.
he did combined science (phy + bio) and E maths in his sec sch
he didnt take pure sciences, A maths.

He is intending on taking H2 bio H2 phy and H2 maths. WOuld it seem very normal if he failed badly?

Ignorance SG

wake up his idea la

please

Qex SG

lol, tats wad i told him too. nvr take Amaths wan to take Cmaths, nvr do pure science wan to do 2 H2 science.

Ignorance SG

why he dun want go jc?

why do private?

if he cant even enter jc in the first place, why bother trying to sit for A's privately?

Laughing

i think ar, go poly or SIM better.

tell him Uni will allow him do "honours" w/o securing a bachelor's

RETARDED_MORON SG

It is very difficult to cope with H2 biology without H2 chemistry, much less without O Level chemistry. I recommend that he takes some humanities subjects like economics, history, geography and literature.

Edit: if he is still eligible for JC, ask him to go for it.

iOn[xG] SG

It's abit tough without teachers and background.
No background got teachers still can.
Got background no teachers also can.

Go tuition and select sciences.
Maths is abit tougher I feel but there's no other way around it, cos maths important. Take 3 years?

Gasfene SG

who will be teaching him?what notes is he gonna use? Most private students flunked their lab. But personally i think it is definitely possible as long as he works hard.

extrinsic SG

yes. for his circumstances.

Hocklez SG

can go jc go jc. why go private… he too much money and time to spend give me… u might not even get a decent grade by doing private…

aiglosicicle SG

not impossible.

but if he is doing it in one year with what he has learned so far, he needs robotic diligence and money for regular private tuition.

Fireindahouse SG

its these uncles going for private.. u don't see a uncle in jc do you??

Fireindahouse SG

btw i know of a uncle took private A's as well... manage to get a uni admission WITHOUT BACKGROUND and little private tuition.. no joke that person aged ard 30++ heard from my teacher he's doing further studying now..

.....

but i dunno whether he take H1/H2 lah..

its not impossible..

hiphop2009 SG

possible but he has to work extremely hard.

for this route, i recommend he give himself 4 years, consider that he is taking private.

with a lot a lot of discipline.

lab bo bian, either he really go learn, or flunk it.

Darkness_hacker99 SG

With a lot of determination, he can do it.

I am also considering this too. Razz

Hocklez SG

under different circumstance ok? if given a choice, jc or private, jc will definitely be better for a just baked o lvl graduate.

with that money from private, i can go sim/overseas get a degree...

jus to add, 30yr old uncle, go for other higher papers rather than this a lvl.

mir4cle SG

i think he should retake his O-levels. it was silly of him not to take chemistry which is the central science now.. Biology is no longer the most important science out of the three.

and, he is killing himself by taking H2 maths when he didn't take Amaths. H2 maths dont jus consist of Cmaths now. it has a bit of fmaths concepts here and there too.

therefore, i'd suggest that he
1) go study chem and amaths and retake Os or
2) go poly

JRtheBEST SG

sibeh screwed…
