very nice one there...

some of the pictures were during my time in sji (although i was never part of ncc - why rush to be in green when you're gonna do NS Mr. Green )

however, i've made it a point to visit the UGOs yearly at AP. Ever since '99 as a young cadet marching, till now. Although the drill and discipline standards have dropped greatly since the time i was in sji... this time honoured tradition in sji is worth keeping.

i was from land too 1999 to 2003.

and if i'mt not wrong the csm for sji at that time had to go spec coruse phrase 3 because he was sick for phrase 2 i think. Laughing

I was from Land '92-'95.

Fernandez and Genesuis removed so many of the traditions that we continued. Damn.

Not sure if the below examples are still around:

1) No walking on parade square if one is not an NCO
2) The new CSM has to do 999 push ups before he can receive the batang
3) We used to have the sand pit just behind the cleaner's room but now it's concrete. A lot of "illegal" tekan would conducted there Laughing
4) The HQ room has to be in perfect condition
5) The items in the CSM cupboard would be placed in a specific manner
6) We used to group Part C cadets into "duty clerks", "armourers", "storemen". Duty clerks are the most prestigious and normally would be given high appointments when they become NCOs. They also receive the most tekan.

We used to come to school every morning at 630am to receive special tekan and we would be damn shaq by the time we go for classes.

because it's all about cadet welfare now...parents keep complaining...during my time...

1,2,3,4,5 were still around...nv heard of 6...morning we go hq to play carrom,copy hw or sleep on the bench...

to add on to no1...no cutting of hq too...have to go 1 big round to get to the benches...i think now alot all gone already...

Bro. Paul found out about 6), was furious and abolished it. It was a tradition since the old SJI and it died off during our time. Confused

And the CSM journal, no one was supposed to read it, except the CSM himself. Last thing I heard 3 years ago was that NCOs would open and flip it freely.

Do you guys know the history of the batang?

sji ncc had a tradition of doing ridiculous amts of push up for the incoming CSM to take over the pace stick from the outgoing CSM. During my time it was still in force, after that.... I'm not sure.

I keenly rem that on AP night, all the Part A,B,C,D would muster themselves on the parade square and do push ups and sing that song the ..." we like it here, we like it here, we found ourselves a home.." bloody noisy i tell you...

And the tradition of tau-poking the CSM (both incoming and outgoing)
