Welcome to our Country. Hmmm we are generally a reserved lot (i
find myself still keeping quiet for some reasons whenever a speaker
asked 'So any questions' during seminars/talks i attended
haha) but we do have loads of energy n passion in things we like to
do and are generally ppl who enjoy life as well.
Since you are here for 7 mths already, im sure all the basic
stuffs like where to find food n places of interest are taken
care of. May I ask the purpose of your stay here? Is it more of
work or study so that my advice can be more towards that area.
For general, I agreed with some of the earlier posts.
Join the local expat community and tap on their local
networking and let things goes from there. At least you worry less
about the anonymity of the online people you might meet for
the 1st time compared to through trusted network from your
friends/collegues. Find a related activity that you are interested
in and join the club.
As of all serious relationships, it will take time for trust to
come in. Be street smart too. Becos you look like a foreigner,
there will always be black sheeps to exploit you. (Look thru a
tourist must know handbook for more details) As for
cultural sensitivity, learn along the way. Dont worry abt offending
anyone as we are generally open n forgiving ppl :)
