Nata|ie SG Go for a holiday then? Get to relax and siam all those "when you getting hitch" kind of qns.
maskedangel SG i hate cny oso. . cos im a half, and me chinese side of the family doesnt quite like me for being sooo malay. . .
stevebp SG What you mean by being so malay?? inter-racial marriages are quite common nowadays. I thought that the family would have accepted their off springs as part of their own since they have given their blessings to your parents already. BTW if you don,t mind which side of your family is chinese and which is malay.....
stevebp SG Actually it would be quite useful if you are immersed in both Malay and Chinese culture and understand their language and culture. Can do business with both sides. Our neigbouring countries Indonesia and Malaysia are all predominantly Malay and the rising dragon China being able to speak mandarin would be useful too. Knowing both cultures and languages would definitely be to your advantage.
maskedangel SG dad chinese, mom malay. . i talk malay, not chinese. i talk with the malay accent, and dresses like a malay. . aiya, difficult la. . mom side wan me to be more malay, dad side wan me be more chinese. . .
stevebp SG I tend to think that one should follow the fathers side more since you will be carrying on his surname....irrespective of whether he is a chinese or malay.... How does your chinese family converse normally? Mandarin? Hokkien? Cantonese? Are you able to speak mandarin or dialect then? What's your 2nd lang in school? When you are with your chinese family maybe you can try conversing in their mother tongue, it might be able to help in resolving misunderstanding. Maybe there are some deep rooted conflicts in your family even before you were born.... I am not you so will not be able to understand your situation. No matter what both sides are still your family as the old saying goes blood is thicker then water.
maskedangel SG lol. . . u got it spot on. . i don wanna discuss this on forum . . but what the heck. . me living with mom now. . parents divorced. . So thats y im more to the malay side, cos i tend to spend more time with them. . due to that, my 2nd lang in school was malay lor. . . seriously, i got no probs mixing with any races/religion. But i dunno whats the big prob is with my parents. . I can understand chinese, but cant speak them well , due to the hypy thingy. . sad case la, but living the most out of it
ispyyy SG hahaha... tat reminds me of a presidential candidate in current US election The picture as below : In areas where white dominate, he say that he is white In areas where black dominate, he say that he is black though, maybe ridiculous... but hor, who noes??? he may appeal to black and white in US and got elected to be president... It just depends on how he bring himself to reach out for black and white votes...
