I'll be going for my first trip to shanghai this
coming january. the temperature will be from 0 - 8 degree celsius.
have some queries in mind as this is my 1st time transition to
winter.
1) what kind of layers should i wear?
2) is long john necessary??
3) any recommendation to wear to buy comfortable outer
layer(jacket/coat etc)?

1) 3 layers Maximum if it is 0 - 8 degs
2) if long john is considered one of the layers then it is a

3) make sure your coat/jacket is light, not heavy, wind-proof,
warm (put your arm into the jacket to check how fast it will
warm down your arm) and don't dress like an eskimos
It is only 0 to 8 degs, and you're not going to the north/south
poles. So you want to get a jacket that you can use to visit many
other countries.
So many stores selling winter wears nowadays, if you cannot find
any, then you need to go and kill yourself.
