Ok l'll start the ball rolling,
I have just recently dissected the anterior region of the left
human thigh. I have located the sartorius muscle(I believe its the
one running from the lateral from the anterior superior iliac
spine to the lateral of the knee) and cut it proximally
to reveal the adductor canal. The great saphenous vein runs
medially to the pelvis. The inguinal ligament lie deep along the
pubis area to the pubic tubercle.
The femoral triangle contains the femoral nerve(I had a
difficult time identifying this cause i might have sliced it),
artery and vein. The inguinal lymph
nodes are located located next to the femoral vein
medial to the pubis. The femoral triangle is made up the boundaries
of the sartorius muscle, inguinal ligament and the adductor longus
muscle.
The adductor canal envelops the femoral artery and vein and
is lateral to the pelvis as compared to the adductor longus.
After cutting the adductor longus running from the medial to
lateral of the pelvis, reveals the adductor brevis. (The obturator
nerve should be around here, but I can't seem to find it) Cutting
the adductor brevis proximally reveals the magus and the adductor
hiatus muscle, can now be seen.On the side of the
femoral vein, medial to the pelvis, is the pectineus
muscle and the other side next to the femoral nerves, lateral to the
pelvis, is the iliopsoas muscle(I believe so).
The femoral artery branches into the deep femoral artery as it
goes down the thigh. the deep femoral artery branches into the
medial circumflex femoral artery and the lateral circumflex artery
which is loacted deep under the muscle. The femoral vein, on the
other hand branches into the great and small( I can't locate the
small one) saphenous veins. The saphenous nerve courses with the
great saphenous vein and branches into the sural nerve is is
located at the posterior of the foot.
On the lateral region of the thigh from the pubis, is the vastus
lateralis muscle, followed by the rectus femoris muscle(deep to
this muscle is the vastus intermedius) then to the vastus
medialis. All these muscle form the quadriceps. Medial to the pubis
lies the gracilis muscle and inserts on the tibia.
On the lateral side of the femur is the greater trochanter and
to the inferior and medial to it is the lesser trochanter. On the
lateral base of the femur is the later epicondyle and on the
inferior of it, is the lateralcondyle. On the medial of it starting
from the superior of it, is the adductor tubercle, followed by the
medial epicondyle, then the medial condyle. In the middle of it is
the patella, where the femur attaches to the tibia. The connective
tissue, tibial tuberosity is located around this region too.
Please correct me if I made any mistakes. Peace.
