I think this whole issue is so bloody hell damn ridiculous.
If the stomper had caught students vandalising the bus or
throwing litters around instead, or even students refusing to give
up seats for the more needy, would the reaction from the public and
the school be similarly intense?
I just think that when it comes to sexual issues, such as of
public display of affection between young couples, the society can
be so blindly and unfairly self-righteous, to the extent that the
couples involved receives much more punishment and
backlash than they rightfully deserve.
Perhaps the students involved deserve to have their council
title stripped so as to make a statement, but to suspend them, made
to write a letter of 'repentance', is all that called for?
I think the school had over reacted on this matter. My opinion
on the school went downhill not because of the couple's action, but
because of the school's reaction on this.
Punishment and backlash on the girl seemed in my own opinion to
be harsher that that received by the guy, even though the two was
equally involved in this issue.
Display of affection between couples is nothing nowadays. People
are doing it in public parks, cinemas, coffee shop, and in high
likelihood, doing wilder things in their own homes.
What's so shameful about this? It's between those two person,
they are not affecting us, it is none of our business, and they are
not hurting anyone else. In this case, why should we be so kaypo
and use our own invented sense of morality to judge them?
Disturb them and ruin their lives with our own opinion for
what?
Besides, there was only one photo as 'evidence' of their
wrongdoings. How can we really believe everything that the stomper
claimed? (that the girl moaned and scream, that they were petting
around)
I stand on the side of those students.
