TIME Magazine yesterday unveiled its list of the 50 most
influential gadgets of all time where these devices "forever
changed the way we live, work and play". The publication stresses
that the list was compiled and deliberated at extreme length by its
technology and business editors, writers and reporters.
Topping the list is the Apple iPhone, which TIME describes
as a truly powerful computer in the pockets of millions. While
smartphones had existed years before the iPhone was introduced in
2007, TIME feels that what made the iPhone so unique is its
software and mobile app store, which forever changed the way people
communicate, play, shop and work.
It believes the iPhone has fundamentally changed humans'
relationship with computing and information and its impact will
continue to be felt for decades to come. Other Apple products
that made it to the list are the Macintosh (3rd), the iPod (9th), the iPad (25th), and the iBook
(38th).
