SINGAPORE: More than 800,000 Singaporean HDB households will
receive the next instalment of utilities rebates from this month,
the Finance Ministry said in a statement issued on Friday (Jan
1).
Depending on their flat size, eligible Singapore households will
each receive a GST Voucher – Utilities-Save (U-Save) of between
S$45 and S$65. The GST Voucher – U-Save is distributed every four
months, with the next instalment to be paid out in April.
In its statement, the Finance Ministry said: “Annually, those
living in 1- and 2-room HDB flats will be able to offset about 3 to
4 months of utilities bills on average with their regular GST
Voucher – U-Save. Those living in 3- to 4-room HDB flats can offset
about 1 to 2 months of utilities bills on average.”
Introduced by the Government in Budget 2012 to help lower- and
middle-income households with their expenses, the GST Voucher –
U-Save provides HDB households with a rebate to offset their
utilities bills, and is paid every January, April, July and
October.
