Customers in Singapore and Malaysia can now order a Mi Note
smartphone from Chinese electronics company Xiaomi and have it
delivered courtesy of Uber.
Xiaomi's Hugo Barra announced the on-demand delivery scheme
onFacebook, calling it a
first-of-its-kind collaboration between the two hot
start-ups.
The process for ordering a phone is nearly the same as for ordering
a standard Uber pick-up: Customers open the Uber app, then use the
slider at the bottom to choose "Xiaomi," after which orange-colored
Uber cars will show up on the map.
Hit request, and payment will be charged to the customer's credit
card linked with the Uber account, with delivery of a Mi Note to
follow within a few minutes, says Barra.
