There was this high profile case in the 90s. A CEO
of Singapore Power had swindled about $60 million dollars. His
passport was confiscated from him but still he had managed to
escape to Malaysia then Canada I think by using a forged passport.
So in order to bring him back, his wife was apprehended by the
authority and questioned, nearly got charged too. Somehow another,
he found out about his wife being arrested and decided to return to
Singapore to save his wife.
He was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment and his brother too
was sent to prison for 3 years if I’m not mistaken for helping him
to escape.
