SINGAPORE — Lower levels of dissolved oxygen caused by hot and dry
weather could have led to the death of about 400 fish
at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park today (Feb 5), the PUB said in a
statement.
The PUB said it received a report of several dead fish at the
upstream section of Kallang River at the Bishan-Ang Mo Kio
Park this morning. Contractors were activated to clear up the dead
fishes and the clean-up was completed at 3pm. The two species of
fish affected are Tilapia and Mayan Cichlid.
Water samples were also collected and laboratory test results show
that water quality was not affected and there was no
contamination.
The PUB also said it is safe for the public to continue with water
activities at the premise and the agency will continue to monitor
the situation closely.
