Have to agree, Minister kena played out by his own team.Last time, he supported nkf also. They say lightning doesn't strike twice.

the Bear SG

Don't think so.

then NParks is staffed by a bunch of semi-sentient morons who just got ripped off so bad, i wonder if they are also defending the nigerian scams they are paying the "former African Princes"

$2200 for one fucking bicycle?

Wait and see.

Cheap may become expensive in the long run.

Better to buy quality bicycles than cheapos.

But expensive does not mean quality all the time.

ditzy SG

They are Brompton foldable bicycles, they are like the rolls royce of foldable bicycles. Really, I am not kidding.

There is a slightly cheaper one, but since they got the budget, so might as well get Brompton lor.

Medicated Oil SG

The foldable bikes are paid by the tax payer money.

No matter what lousy reason of only 1 quotation, the person in charge should have some sense to re-tender.

Unless the person is some ku ku who just want to clear the budget for this year.

But, we have a biggest ku ku to justify on how the tax payers money is wasted.

Simple waste of money and total incompetence for all party involved.

dragg SG

i just dont think its right. even if they travel long distances they shouldnt spend so much on a bike.

office they get thousand dollar chairs, now parks they get thousand dollar bikes. whats next？

ditzy SG

Hey, they are only Bromptons, only $2200 a piece, discounted somemore since mass buy.

Its not like they are the lamborghini, ferrari, or mercedes foldable ones, those cost in excess of US$18000 a piece.

Dalforce 1941 SG

$2200 for one fucking bicycle is completely unacceptable.

Lazybumy SG

So easy, not enough money just need to raise the GST, public transport, power bill etc.

M the name SG

If per bicycle cost $2200, they might as well order something special like

1) Segway

Although by "law" LTA didn't allow Public to use it, surely NPark staff can use after some training ?

2) Di-Cycle

More cool and "convincing" B-) cool

his heart bypass very cheap because he had no heart to bypass in the first place

ditzy SG

Is the Segway sold in Sg?

Yes, this is the exclusive distributor who sold them to CAG.

http://www.gogreenholdings.com/

There are some private sellers also, quoting $3500 for a new one.

And the reason why NPARKS didn't bother with segway other than the pricing is because of LTA regulations.

This is the supplier's letter to prospective buyers:

If you intend to use the Segway on private grounds and non-public roads (i.e. recreational/private compounds, factory ground, airport terminals, etc), permission should be obtained from the authorities/owners governing such places."

charlize SG

Can buy for personal use or not ?

Maybe can zip around when going grocery shopping.

ditzy SG

But really lah, Bromptons are like the rolls royce of foldable bicycles, of course you cannot compare lamborghini, porsche, and mercedes which makes foldable bicycles too.

I am not too sure about singapore owners of Bromptons, because NPARK is now using them. Its like when mercedes taxis came out you know.

charlize SG

Some people asking why the Nparks people need to cycle so much everyday.

40 km is no joke.

And big boss still want them to cycle more and raise productivity after purchasing these high class bikes.

This will set a precedent.

Next time, other groups will ask for the top end of everything since NParks can have it, why not the fire department, police department, civil defence which have heavier responsibilities and duties.
