The 42-year-old beer promoter, known only as Madam Chao, has
proclaimed her innocence.
The divorcee, who came to Singapore from China seven years ago
with her son, is now a permanent resident. She also claimed that
her son is studying in a top school in Toa Payoh.

She said that Mr Chen arranged to celebrate her birthday in
advance and when they met, he "suddenly gave me $30,000 cash",
adding that he had sold off his HDB flat.
"He said it was to show the love of a brother for his sister,"
she claimed.
She said he also took her shopping in Orchard and brought her a
Rolex watch worth about $10,000 and a handphone as birthday
gifts.
Madam Cao told Lianhe Wanbao: "I know he has a wife and
children, but I was moved by his sincerity."
