A BAG of white powder - believed to be drugs - were found lying
on a pavement at the junction between High Street and Stamford Road
by a member of the public yesterday. Police received a call about
the palm-size package at about 11am. The Singapore Civil Defence
Force was alerted, and a fire engine and a team trained in dealing
with hazardous materials was dispatched to the scene. The area
outside Stamford Court was cordoned off. The Central Narcotics
Bureau is investigating.
