In a report by The New Paper on Saturday, that Mr Spencer Ng
Chung Hon, one of the National Solidarity Party’s (NSP) candidates
in Marine Parade GRC, had been accused of having behaved
inappropriately towards a student in 2007 when he was a
teacher.
Asked about the accusation, he said: “With this new generation,
we need to explore new methods of engaging them, like using SMSes,
online chatting and connecting with them on Facebook.”
Several teachers here have also been criticised previously for
inappropriate comments made of their students online or on their
Facebook accounts.
Recently, teachers in the UK and Australia have been issued
guidelines on befriending students on Facebook. What about in
Singapore?
