I am a teacher myself, we have a life as well. I feel there is
nothing wrong with students adding teachers in FB or other social
network websites or vice versa as long both parties conduct
well.

Do you eat together with your students ?
Do you sit together with them and eat with them ?
Do you go out and hang out together with them ?
So why do you see it appropriate to be "Facebook friends"
It is akin to someone plonking down and sitting in the middle of
a group of friends eating together at a table.
Shameless, should I say.
Even if some members of that table try to talk to you and try to
be welcoming to you, but some of them would be unhappy (such as
me).
So that is the scenario.
Try to act age-appropriate.
