SINGAPORE:
Mosques in Singapore are preparing for the Muslim holy month of
Ramadan, which starts on Wednesday.
They have lined up a host of activities for all
residents.
One of them is the sharing of food especially with the less
fortunate.
For the past three years, the An-Nur Mosque in Woodlands has been
reaching out to all the elderly residents who live alone in the
one-room flats of Sunlove Neighbourhood Link.
Volunteers bring food and eat with them when they break
fast.
Every weekend, the mosque distributes porridge.
Over at the Assyakirin Mosque in Jurong, volunteers will cook
dishes instead of catering to cut costs.
The savings will be used for activities that will benefit all races
in the neighbourhood. - CNA/vm
