A BOUT of teenage misbehaviour has aggravated citizens enough to
send in a slew of comments to online portal STOMP.
In one instance, a teenage girl ordered her maid to pick out
'tow gay' (bean sprouts) from her noodle soup, and was labeled a
spoilt teen 'princess' by a STOMPer.
Many netizens were 'appalled' by her action and believed her
parents should have used this occasion to teach the girl to be
independent and show some respect for maids and domestic helpers in
Singapore. Some also questioned the future of a society that is
resting on the shoulders of spoilt 'princesses' like her.
The teenager was not the only one caught misbehaving. Netizens
were also irritated by seat-hoggers who threatened to blog about
poor service when asked to settle their bill.
The STOMPer who reported the incident felt that these teenagers
were abusing their rights as customers. The group of seven had,
over a period of three and a half hours, clocked up a bill of just
$30, but continued to occupy the seats even when there were other
customers waiting for them to leave.
This group of teenagers later wrote in to STOMP with their side
of the story, claiming that they were pestered to leave and felt
mistreated by the staff at the cafe.
