Hmmm, stress is usually due to failure to cope with workload/expectations.

Quite amazing how a mind as young as 11years old, manage to take one's own life at will. Like, from where does such mind get poisoned with such thoughts/possibilities?

I can only think of Television and the Internet, and if so, it begs the question of who controls such mind to exposure of such media?

i feel sad for the kid.. not the parents.

apparently you are still a kid yourself, parents raise children, naturally it hurts them most....to be blaming parents for adding stress is also totally unwarranted...good parents want their children to lead better lives and good education provides for that. not all children are made the same, some require more discipline than others..

you want to see stress free kids, there are plenty who roam around chilling out, dropping out of schools and getting into trouble, that's stress free...

2) Ask what is stopping your child from reaching your expectations

within there is a lesson for every parent.. but most can't even be bothered to learn anything because they're too busy chasing their own "dreams" which are in reality nightmares...

I'm sure there are thousands of unreported attempted suicides and hundreds of suicidal deaths a year.

The papers can't be reporting everything.

This news was in the papers already... The education system seems to be flawed.

Few years ago opposite my block, there's a primary 6 girl who jumped to her death when she failed to score excellent grades that her parents expect her to.

I remember she lied saying she scored 261 for her PSLE when in fact she score 216.

(Cmon, 216 is good already!!! I only scored 206)

I bet her parents must be regretting putting so much pressure on their daughters!

It is sad to hear that a life is lost due to exam stress. The root cause is social pressures. Since we were young, we were drilled to be the BEST, be COMPETITIVE, be PRODUCTIVE! To be less than the BEST is considered FAILURE.

kids brain nowadays easily corrupted. rmber the five "geniuses" thinks that when they jump down they can save the world... sigh!! not sure wat exactly happen to this P5 kid but the most common things that can happen is probably exam stress or parents nagging or friends abaddon him etc etc

Quite concisely, you've listed down one of the ways such an event can be prevented.

Unfortunately, familiarity breeds contempt within the family, and we take each other's presence for granted.

Quite sad that for some, it's only when death gives a visit that we stop and ponder such things.

Anyway, no use blaming, won't bring back what's lost. Hope the parents of the kid can accept the loss and get the right support from society.
