A FULL-TIME national serviceman was fined $8,000 on Wednesday
for attempted sex with a 12-year-old girl.
Fong Kok Loong, 21, admitted to the offence at his Hougang
Street 11 home in January last year.
A Community Court heard that the girl, now 14, came to know Fong
through Friendster, a social networking site, in December 2007.
About a week later, they exchanged contact numbers and started
sending short messages to each other.
The victim told him she was 13.
About three weeks later while the victim was with some friends,
she received an SMS from Fong inviting her over to his home.
She went to his flat where he tried to have sex with her, but
she pushed him away.
Fong could have been jailed for up to five years and fined up to
$10,000 for the offence.
