how u know?
TWO men, a Singaporean and a Malaysian, died on the spot when
the van they were in mounted a kerb and struck a MRT track pillar
along Commonwealth Avenue West on Monday morning.
The accident happened at 10.20am near the Singapore Polytechnic.
The two men were working in emergency lift rescue for Esmaco, a
subsidiary of United Premas. It is not clear if they were on the
way to a case or returning from one.
Mr Ismadi Abdul Wahab, who is in his early 30s and his
co-worker, a Malaysian known only as Mr Siva were trapped in the
front cabin of the van, which crashed and landed on its right
side.
Singapore Civil Defence Force rescuers arrived and extricated
them, but they were pronounced dead by paramedics.
The news came as a shock to Mr Ismadi's friends. One of them
turned up at his office to look for him on Monday after having lost
touch for a few years. But he found that he was too late.
'Maybe it's just not my luck to see him,' said the man, who only
wanted to be known as Eddie. He described the married man as a
cheerful and happy-go-lucky person who readily lent friends and
family members a helping hand.
'Once I needed to borrow $2,000 from him and he just lent it to
me without thinking,' he said.
