Hey Guys
allow me to give my humble opinion after one year as aTD.
1. Pang Jio. however busy u are, die die must release every 3
hours. If 2 hours plus u happen to be free, go release first and
not wait till 3 incase got more pax then u got delay. Driving with
a full bladder is sure uncomfortable and lead to lots of health
hazard.
I always got plastic bag with me just in case I got no place to
do it but so far only use once when I am in Tuas. Really respect
those guys who can just do it openly in T3 carpark.
2, Drinking water. especially with night driving, get dehydrated
very fast. Most ppl make a mistake of not drinking too much water
so that they dun have to go toilet more often. Not enough water
really leads to lots of health problem too. I always have 2 bottles
with me and by midnight I have to finish one bottle and the other
one before I go home. When stopping to drink, really drink a least
a 3rd at a time, not just a sip.
Coffee and soft drinks really cannot substitute.
3. Exercise - Driving taxi is so stressful both mentally and
physically and you really need to be fit.
Some people do it in their own way, as simple as stretching
themselves whenever they got a chance to get out of the cab. This
is sure better than nothing.
A friend of mine likes to park his cab far away when he go for
dinner break or depositing money so he got chance to walk and move
his limps.
Would be nice if you can go for run once or twice a week, even
better if can do it with partner or kids. Have some bonding too
I know a few taxi drivers who workout at the gym near my place,
at least 3 times a week.
As for me, I have a small home gym in my place, invest in a
bench, free weights, bar bells and dumb bells and I work out 4
times a weeks.
I used to be sleepy and always doze off after midnight but after
working out, feel really alert and dun have to depend of coffee,
red bull or like some people smoke to keep them awake.
4. Sleep - must really have yr quota of sleep for yr body to
rest and recover. I always see some TD parking somewhere and taking
cat nap, A few mins of this can work wonders.
If you cannot do all the above, then upgrade your insurance la,
at least you benefits your love ones. Some people give excuses like
busy or not enough time to do all these. Without health or yr life,
you get nothing.
If you can do at least some of the above, sure helps in whatever
kidney or liver problemt that this thread is all about.
Just my two cents worth from a ex-newbie!!!
