For me was working in the navy for last 11yrs then got

disillusioned by the way the force is treating us now so when

they offered me a new contract i tell them to F off...... :P

Then was jobless for awhile n worked outside for a few jobs

bfore joing TD. Outside jobs really terok sometimes pay u

Got retrenched as a technician, hop along a few jobs, end up doing marine repair job with lots of OT, but very tough, recently, Marine market is low, very less OT, with a pathetic basic paid, go drive taxi on weekends.

For money and time.

Money because need to feed myself and several '000s of credit card debt. Not a big amount though.

Time because to me, driving a taxi is a very straightforward job. Once you hand over the shift, there is no one else to bother. No worries about project deadline. No worries about sales target etc. It's an honest way of generating an income which also afford me the time to work on my side project after handing over my shift.

No, you need at least 1 year after obtaining your Class 3 before you can apply to LTA.

Poolman's ex-colleague. was working in the same japanese mnc as poolie, as a senior manager in R&D. closed the whole damn division some time back. was retrenched but given a big golden handshake. found another similar job but decided that i had enough of this shit after 20+ years. so became a TD as a means to keep myself sharp.

i can truly say that i have become a better man after becoming a TD. used to be an aggressive and arrogant driver, intolerant, never gave way, horn people for being slow...(like many merc & bmw suv drivers i've encountered as a TD) all the education in the world means nothing if you have no compassion, have no tolerance. i'm still learning to be a more humble man.

1. When I’m not a TD, just curious why when I came back frm Genting landed in golden mile, all lighted up cab nv stop for me after 8pm.?

2. When my Mistress go shopping at scott Isatan, after 8pm.Taxi stand long Q, but no taxi, on call me faster than call cab.

So I take up TVL to find out Why ? Now I do the same thing like TD.Cheer….......Bros. Sometime if U r lucky got charity Ride. Hahaaa…............If Ur mother fall in front of me.

Taxi driving is really a wonderful job for an O level standard like me. All Thanks to Mr Poolman and tis forum members that made me decided to go into taxi business, even before I started to drive taxi, I could forsee my life ahead and the type of income I can generate everyday. Yes its everyday I taking my salary! I decide on how much to earn everyday and tis job has given me so much freedom. When I know I would need certain amount of cash and I would work really hard and within few days I could acheive my target. Of course to have a good income, the one of few important factors are to be self-discipline, self-motivated, perseverance and stamina to put in longer driving hours.

Please do not have the mis-perception that driving taxi is easy money. Not any Tom Dick of Harry can make it to have a good income. Not to mention we have got alot of occupation hazards.. ...

Til date after 4 months plus of driving taxi, I really enjoy what I am doing and no regret for resigning from my Iron bowl job that paid me $3k per month which I been working for last 15.5 years since I ord.
