I'm thinking of driving day only. So, looking at being a hirer and look for a relief. Unless I can get to be a day Relief which is very unlikely right?

Now , without a license , hirer throw u a day shift u also cannot drive .

So best is get the license 1st ... bo license talk no use .

Then start looking ....

Hopefully can get ...

If cannot get , be a hirer lor .....

I'll try everything , until the last resort , bo pian , then lan lan ....

U try Comfort , if cannot , find Trans , if dun have , find silver , if dun have , find SMRT , if dun have find Smart ...... so many options .

before i started during year 2000 , i also worry here worry there .

Especially when u see them walkie talking like casual talk ?

Hi Pat7471, like wat poolman have said muz be hardworking n analyse.

Lucky for me i got help frm my comfort buddy who used to be my colleuge

in the navy n learnin frm poolman n the rest of the guys. Been driving for 2

months onli myself (perm nite shift) but have formed out a formula for fri/sat

where i can get over 300 n above on these 2 days. Now working out a formula

for tis coming xmas eve n new yr eve so that can finally break over the

400 barrier :P

Knn Friday $300 is a disgrace , to get $330 easily , $350 satisfactory . $375 good connection , $400 work over time , hahahahah

Hey guys,

I went down to Comfort Eunos Kioks just now to apply for the TVL. Saw a post dated last year and from the online application form, that a recent passport size photo is required upon registration. Went around this morning to look for a place to get my photo done. Who knows, the lady at the kiosk says no need. If LTA approve then will get during the course. So now, have to wait 1 month or so for the letter of approval to be sent to me.

At the kiosk, about 5 or 6 old cabbies were chatting very loudly. Cursing and swearing about Silver cabs and “Ang Cha”. I was wondering if I will be seated at that seat 10-15 years from now, doing what they are doing. It’s quite a scary thought frankly.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to join you guys for kopi in 3 months time.

This oldies children all grown up liao ..... they drive for past time , earn a bit drink coffee , talk cock sing songs .

We cannot afford that kind of luxuries .

We must be serious in whatever we do .

It's a responsibiltiy to ourself and our families .

nowadays people really very hardworking & smart. already start to do research even b4 take tvl,u will sure succeed Pat with all these preparation & advise from Pool.

I felt taxi driving is very much like playing chess.every move counts,1 wrong move will change the entire game.there must be a stategy & reason for every move u make.

Hi Guys, need some help from you all. Juz got my TVL yesterday & this morning went down to Transcab to apply for a used Wish, also went to Comfort to apply for a used Sonata. Was being told that both place waiting time approx 2 - 3 weeks.

I 4got 2 ask, Transcab need 2 attend MDT like Comfort? They say waiting time 2 - 3 weeks, zhun boh 1? Or wait till GOD knows when?

Hmmm... used Sonata still need to wait 2-3 weeks? I thought alot throw keys? Maybe now holidays period. For transcab wish...2-3 weeks waiting time quite normal as Red engine selling like hotcakes nowadays.

Hi all,

My first time posting here. You all look like a friendly brotherhood:)

Just got my LTA approval and medical result. Now registered with SMRT for their online course, because after checking on the phone with SMRT and Comfort it seems that SMRT course is the quickest way to get a licence (of course every durian seller say theirs is the best lah) but not sure whther this is true. Could anyone confirm whether SMRT or comfort better?

Second question is on the cab hiring, do the other companies (other than comfort and SMRT) take in new driver?

Third question, if I want to drive auto car, what is the choice we have? (So far I understand Comfort Sonata and Transcab Wish are auto, correct?) The reason I asked this third question is because I am intending (or rather forced) to drive full time, even as newbie, so auto car would be a top priority. Yes, I lost lot of $$$ in my failed business and have big financial commitment. I read a lot of advice not to start full time, but as a relief first, however I am afraid I don't have this luxury.

1) I'm not sure smrt is the fastest but i do know that smrt has a very high "1st time passing" rate. Pay attention during the excursion as the lta guy will give lots of tips. It doesn't really matters comfort or smrt,unless u wanna sign up as a hirer & get the course fee refund (u must get a manual taxi from comfort to enjoy the refund)

2) Yes u can be a hirer/relief for any company as long as u have a valid tvl. But some co. prefer exp driver to drive their limo cab

3) Diesel auto: Sonata & azera (comfort), Magentis & skoda (silvercab)

Cng auto: Wish(transcab & silvercab) Kia caren(Smart)

& of course those axio,fielder & wish from prime

At the moment the best deal is still transcab wish (for omo)

talking abt new driver,today me kena call at suntec & while waiting for pax, saw a very young lady smrt merc driver. chat with her for awhile & was stunned!

her tvl only 2days old & straight away omo a merc!

wat lagi stunned me was,she's only 30 & used to be a kindergarten teacher

yeah, just whack any online course and pass fast…

after that then look out for best deal to sign up taxi…

if pass liao and no taxi available or cant decide, just whack sonata relief first….

need to know how to cheong nite shift, ask komade…

need to know how to idle, ask david…

need to know how to drive and sell property at the same time, ask vee….

need to know how to be best relief, ask ALN…

I think right now I decide to take either :

1. Transcab Wish, but someone say long que until March 2011 (2010?)

2. Comfort Sonata, or

3. Silvercab Magentis

(he he, too much hor, haven't even got the licence yet already want to order cab)
